What is Kunafa dough (Kataifi/Kadayif)?

Kunafa dough is one of the Middle East's most iconic and beloved ingredients, which has been used for centuries to create irresistible desserts.

Kunafa dough was mentioned in historical texts as early as the 10th century , and its origins are believed to have been traced from Egypt to Syria and onward throughout the Middle East. One of the earliest descriptions of Kunafa is found in the “Kitab al-Tabikh” (Book of Dishes) , where the dough was filled with nuts, deep-fried, and finished with honey – a recipe that is still popular today.

In the 15th century, a new technique was developed where liquid dough was poured over a hot metal plate, creating the thread-like consistency that Kunafa is known for today. This method is still used in our production to ensure authenticity and quality in every piece.
